PS3 Network Outage Is Now Over!

After over three weeks of no online gaming, according to the Sony PlayStation blog, PS3 users can now start playing online games. As of this morning, May 15th, all US states now have limited restoration to the PS3 network.

At this point, access to the gaming network and some services such as streaming movies to Netflix has been fully restored. However, according to chairman Kazuo Harai, other services will not be fully restored until later. This includes such services as access to the PlayStation store.

One of the first things Playstation 3 games will have to change their passwords when they log onto the network. You will have to use the original machine that you used to register the account or your email address to do this. Hopefully too many users will not find these restrictions difficult.

Sony seems very apologetic for the downtime in their network, caused by a severe breach by hackers in April. They are making several efforts to compensate their users, including offering free services for a month the online gamers and other perks.

Hopefully the network will remain safe and secure from this point forward. There is evidence that hackers continue to target the PlayStation network and other online elements of the corporation.

However, for all you PS3 gamers: now is the time to get back online and back to your favorite games! If you have having troubles with your PS3 and need to make some in home repairs, you may also want to check out these excellent PS3 repair guides.
